Hi, this is Ann here today! Just wanted to share something with you this week. I have always loved Sesame Street and now I have one more reason!
Elmo and Big Bird now have a new friend, Julia. Julia has autism. Elmo’s dad told Elmo that “Julia has autism and she does things a little differently.” They also learn that “Julia has really good ears” and so she covers her ears sometimes when she hears noises she doesn’t like. What a great way to help children learn how to accept others who may be different from them.
Sesame Street has also created website entitled Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children that provides resources to parents.
